IECB – An incubator of young teams
Recruitment:
The recruitment of group leaders as well as their activity once at IECB, is carried out under the responsability of an external advisory board (SAB) that guarantees scientific excellence. The organization and the rules according to which IECB is running were elaborated in order to give the group leaders of international origin a large autonomy, to foster the interactions between scientists with different backgrounds and to promote the mobility and the exchanges. The application of these rules aims at developing a research institute of high scientific standards, internationally recognized.
Selection:
Typically every year, 6-10 candidates, pre-selected after an international call, are interviewed at IECB by the SAB. On average 3-4 candidates are short)listed by the SAB, on the basis of the quality and the innovative aspect of their scientific project. Their ability to manage a research group and to develop interdisciplinary collaborations in the Bordeaux area is also considered. With the support of our IECB trustees (CNRS? Inserm and the University of Bordeaux) and our partner (Regional Council of Nouvelle Aquitaine), a starting grant is allocated to new group leaders. Awarded for a period of two years, it consists of a package which comprises human ressources, equipments and operating costs. Teams are then expected to become financially independent.
The activity of the group leaders is then evaluated
